Our GDS Initiative

GDS stands for Global Distribution Systems that enable airline searches worldwide for scheduled carriers. Until now, the greatest barrier for on-demand air carriers has been lack of visibility to potential passengers. That is about to change dramatically.

The Air Taxi / Air Charter Association is actively integrating on-demand air content so that it can be accessed by leading companies and travel agents. Rather than creating a "new site” for travelers, the GDS Initiative will utilize existing major players. The beta launch of this project will be conducted on March 15, 2011 focused on a handful of leading air taxi and air charter companies in the United States.

Which carriers will be selected? All principal part 135 members of ATXA and select full members of ATXA will be invited to participate. These carriers and select turnkey brokers are selected by following three key principles: guaranteeing fixed pricing, availability, and quality of service.

To accommodate the cost of creating air taxi / air charter demand through the Global Distribution System, travel agents, and on-line travel agents the price charged for the air travel must be the lowest wholesale rate available. This allows for payment of channels of distribution including travel agents, brokers, on-line travel agents, Global Distribution Systems, and the air taxi / air charter flight support center.
